We are interested in meeting new authors.
If you're a PhD student at a Dutch university and your dissertation has been approved by the reading committee ('Leescommissie'), then you are definitely in our target group.
As a publisher, we do much more than just printing or designing. We can help you shape your manuscript into a real book. We will provide an ISBN for your book. We will advise you about print runs and printing techniques (regular offset printing or printing on demand), and we will have your book printed. Last but not least, we take care of the promotion and sales of your book.
To produce our printed books and journals, we use a full range of printing and binding techniques. Thus we publish traditionally printed, full colour hardback books, but also glued softcover books that are printed by printing on demand.
We may ask you for a contribution towards the production costs of your publication. This will certainly be the case when we publish your thesis, because you will need a considerable number of copies.
Distribution and sales
As an author, you want to be read. Therefore, we spend a lot of attention to the distribution of our books. Read more about this on our Distribution page.
We will start a publicity campaign for each publication. In collaboration with you, the author, we will prepare a press release that can be sent to regional, national, and international media. We will also send review copies to journals.
Our worldwide distributor, Oxbow Books, and booksellers such as Erasmus and Harrassowitz promote our new books to their customers.
We regularly visit conferences and symposia, where we will bring your book to the attention of your colleagues. If you hare attending a conference or symposium, we will help you with promotional materials, such as viewing copies of your book and sales forms listing a special conference price for your book.
If we agree to publish your work, we will offer you a contract as an author. An important aspect of our contract is that you retain the copyright at all times and, thereby, the freedom to reuse your work for educational and scientific purposes. An English version of the contract is currently in preparation.
Authors receive a 40 percent discount on orders of their own title(s).
We select our books on quality, and reserve the right to refuse manuscripts.
